Get Ready – Ella Fitzgerald

‘Get Ready’ was recorded at Olympic Studios in Barnes. It was a great studio to get a good drum sound especially with the great Keith Grant behind the desk. The artist is Ella Fitzgerald and the producer, Richard Perry, one of the great American record producers. Richard knew exactly what he wanted from the drummer and had a way of getting the best out of his musicians.

‘Hit the centre of the drum and no rim-shots please!’. The album was on the new Reprise label owned by Frank Sinatra.
